Golden Autumn Fashion Shoot with Model Elizabeth in Lappeenranta, Finland

Autumn in Lappeenranta, Finland, gives a photographer two great things at once: golden-hour sunlight filtering through the yellow leaves, and the warm, historic walls of Lappeenranta Fortress (Linnoitus). For this autumn fashion and model photoshoot I used both.

I photographed model Elizabeth in natural sunlight, moving between backlit portraits under the autumn trees and full-length fashion frames against the fortress's bright yellow plaster wall. The low autumn sun did a lot of the work, lighting up her curls and turning the whole background gold.

Elizabeth's outfit was spot on for an autumn fashion editorial: a camel-beige tailored waistcoat with metal buttons, a pleated flared mini skirt with a gold-buckle belt, and black suede over-the-knee platform boots. Those boots against the yellow wall are one of my favourite contrasts of the whole season. She also did her own makeup and hair, a flawless winged-liner look with soft nude lips and big natural curls, and her posing was confident and elegant from the first frame to the last.

The shoot itself was a lot of fun, with a relaxed and warm atmosphere the whole time. As a photographer it was a real pleasure to work with such a talented and stunning model.
