In shortA new face model portfolio shoot uses a neutral studio backdrop, soft flattering light and a simple outfit so model agencies can focus entirely on the model herself.

Every model portfolio starts with a first shoot. For Emmi Lisa Johanna, that first shoot happened in a photo studio in Lappeenranta, Finland, and the results speak for themselves.

This was a classic new-face model test for her modeling portfolio and comp card: a clean, neutral studio backdrop, soft flattering light and a simple, timeless outfit, a fitted black ribbed camisole with blue denim jeans. A simple look like this is exactly what model agencies want to see, because it keeps all the attention on the model herself.

Emmi Lisa Johanna had never done a model photoshoot before, yet she was incredibly skilled and natural in front of the camera. She did her own hair and makeup too: long, voluminous blonde waves with beautiful movement, fresh glowing skin, defined lashes and soft pink lips, finished with a polished French-style manicure. Her posing was varied and confident from start to finish, from over-the-shoulder looks and strong direct eye contact to relaxed hand placement and a natural smile.

The shoot was relaxed and a lot of fun the whole time. As a model photographer I have been photographing people since 2013 and have shot portfolios for model agencies, and my photos have been published in international magazines such as FIGGI and PENG. With new models, my job is to make the session feel easy: clear, simple posing direction, a calm atmosphere and honest feedback during the shoot. Emmi Lisa Johanna picked everything up incredibly fast, and she is definitely a new face to watch.
