##I live and work in Melfi, a little town in southern Italy, built by Frederick II of Swabia in the Middle Ages, and my art is mostly a process of putting pieces together that don't belong together. I work across a few different mediums—drawing, painting, and printmaking—but everything I do usually ends up looking like a collage in one way or another. I like using a mix of graphic, sharp lines and the loose, messy feel of folk art. I don't try to make things look perfect or realistic; I'm more interested in how a simple, flat shape can sit next to a strange hand-drawn character and create a new image that feels a bit like a dream.
##I spend a lot of time collecting materials and ideas, then cutting them up or layering them until they turn into something else. My work is a mix of abstract shapes and surreal figures that look like they came out of an old illustration. I use assemblage because it lets me build an image physically, moving parts around until the balance feels right.
