In shortAleksandra, a photographer and stylist, shows how exaggerated silhouettes and translucent fabrics turn clothing into a character that reshapes how a body is seen.

ONCE UPON A TIME was created as a visual campaign for the fashion brand AUCH.

The project began with the idea that clothing can do more than dress the body — it can create a new identity. I wanted to explore the moment when a garment starts to behave like a character of its own.

Through exaggerated silhouettes, translucent fabrics, hoods and sculptural volumes, the body becomes less familiar and more theatrical. Each look creates a different version of the person wearing it — sometimes exposed, sometimes hidden, sometimes almost unreal.

The project moves between fashion, portraiture and fiction, while remaining rooted in the visual language of AUCH. For me, it is about transformation and the way clothing can change not only how someone looks, but how we read their presence.

Quick answers

How can styling turn a garment into a character?
By using exaggerated silhouettes, sculptural volumes and unusual fabrics, a stylist can make clothing behave like its own personality rather than simply covering the body.
What role does creative direction play in a fashion campaign?
Creative direction sets the visual language and concept, guiding how photography, styling and the brand identity work together to tell a consistent story across every look.
Why use translucent fabrics and hoods in fashion photography?
These elements can make a model appear exposed, hidden or almost unreal, letting each look present a different version of the person wearing the clothes.
How does a visual campaign stay rooted in a brand's identity?
By keeping the styling, color and silhouette choices connected to the brand's established look, even while exploring fiction and transformation through the images.
